Mark Schulman

Hey Drummers!
January 25th is going to be a BLAST.

Mark Schulman -- on a break from touring with PINK!, is locked in for a night of exploring drumming, studio skills, and giving the inside scoop on his breaking into the big pop leagues of touring and records.

Here is a press release detailing Marks new DVD that he'll be selling on the night of the clinic.

Mark Schulman "A Day in the Recording Studio...A Do-It-Yourself Guide to Recording Great Drum Tracks for Drummers and All Musicians" DVD Announced

Mark Schulman is one of the most prolific session drummers constantly staying on top of his game with a career of studio work, profile tours worldwide and TV appearances with Cher, Stevie Nicks, Billy Idol, Foreigner, Richard Marx and even sitting in for Matt Sorum with Velvet Revolver during Matt Sorum's injury. He is currently on an extensive tour with Pink and presently on the Australian leg of the tour for the next couple of months before returning to the U.K. and Europe in the autumn to conclude Pink's 2009 touring commitments. He continues to have an full-on schedule and uses his time efficiently to squeeze in the recording of his forthcoming DVD prior to getting back on tour - release date to be announced.

Respecting that technology has move on a long way, Mark shares his professional advice, creativity and guidance especially on how be at the most efficient in time and finance.

"I'm so excited about my upcoming DVD. We taped it last month in my studio in Venice CA. As a matter of fact it is called, A Day in the Recording Studio...A Do-It-Yourself Guide to Recording Great Drum Tracks for Drummers and All Musicians.

It covers the complete spectrum of recording drums in the studio: preparation of the equipment, tuning, microphone technique, digital recording, my own quick system of charting songs, creating drum parts, performance, editing, effects, studio construction and some darn great video footage! Oh, and there are some cool performances by yours truly...

Nearly every studio drummer in Los Angeles records his/her own drum tracks in bedrooms, garages and home studios. The days of having an expensive studio and engineer to record drums are virtually done. The new trend is to be able to record drum tracks yourself. This DVD shows you how to do it and reduces your fear of getting started by giving you simple, entertaining and inspiring information. You can start recording right away and have the best time creating top class drum tracks!"

We will keep you posted on the release date of this DVD which should be of interest to many drummers.

Gregory Hutchinson

Ever since his professional debut as a teen-aged sideman for trumpeter Red Rodney, Greg Hutchinson has offered eloquent testimony that youth must have its say. Today he is still a young man, not yet out of his twenties, and still thick with the freshness of invention that was evident from the start. However, his youth is balanced with a maturity gained from valuable associations with the likes of Betty Carter and Joe Henderson.

Born June 1970 in Brooklyn, New York, Hutchisnon grew up on a rich diet of ´70s soul-which is undoubtedly the source of that homeboy fire he blends into his swing. He was musically inspired early by both of his parents. His percussionist father recruited a young Greg into a reggae band he led called the Triadics. From his mother, Greg inherited a vast record collection which had been in her family for at least two generations. Listening to artists that span jazz, soul and funk, Hutchinson developed his conception early. "Among my primary influences is 'Philly' Joe Jones," he admits, "because he's a streetwise cat who incorporated all the elements of his life into his music. He was very, very slick. Another inspiration is Charlie Parker," Hutchinson continues," I want to sing on the drums the way he sings on his horn."
